This beautiful Sgian Dubh or traditional Scottish black handled knife features a Scottish bass drummer in sterling silver. The blade is stainless steel with an edge. The overall size is 7-1/2". The standard size for most traditional sgian dubhs. The stainless steel blade is 3-1/2" long. The handle and the sheath are a composite resin material. The fittings are nickel silver plated. The top has an imitation colored stone in your choice of yellow, blue or green. This a great quality sgian dubh and a bargain at this price.
The origin of 'Sgian Dubh'
The distant origins of the name Sgian Dubh (Gaelic for Black Knife) are thought to have emerged from this knife's dark appearance - the early handles were often made from dark bog wood and the blade would become dark through use and age.
A second theory is that it originated from the dark or sinister nature of an easily concealed weapon - which is why it has become traditional to keep the Sgian Dubh in open view in the top of the stocking whilst wearing Highland attire, usually the Kilt, to show that its wearer is amongst friends and has no ill intent.
The Sgian Dubh was not, is not and should not be considered a weapon !

Returns and exchange details

If for some reason, you are not satisfied with your item, please contact us and we will work with you to provide another item or give a refund. Please send us a conversation if you would like to return your item(s). Returns must be shipped within 10 days of receiving your item(s).
If your item is damaged in the mail, we will ship you another upon return of the item. If you item is lost in the mail, while this is of no fault of ours or yours, we will provide another but you will be required to wait 30 days from the shipping date to give time for you package to arrive. If you supply the incorrect address, we will not refund or provide a replacement for your lost shipment. If you purchase a ring and you order the wrong size, we will not re-size it. This can be done at any jeweller for a small fee.
All items must be returned in original condition. Custom printed garments and all engraved items cannot be returned.
