SCOTTISH CLAN CREST PLAID BROOCH ~ ALL CLANS
Your proud Scottish Clan heritage can be displayed by wearing your Clan Crest plaid brooch. This brooch is used to fasten the "fly" plaid to the shoulder.

This large brooch measures 3" (76 mm) in diameter and is made in base metal that is plated with an antique silver finish. The design is a circle or orle of raised relief thistles, the plant symbol of Scotland.
The pewter or sterling silver Clan badge mounted on the brooch is sculpted in extremely fine detail in sterling silver or lead free pewter. The Clan badge is 2" (50.8 mm) wide and is mounted in the center of the Plaid brooch. The Clan badge is surrounded by a detailed three dimensional belt and buckle design with the clan motto in raised relief lettering.
On the reverse there is a solid heavyweight pin and catch. This is the final, finishing touch to your complete Highland outfit.

This brooch is available for ALL Scottish Clans.

Joseph Carruthers
Carruthers Brooch...not accurate.

Hello, my name's Joseph Carruthers. I represent the Clan Carruthers in my region, and I've been asked by our regional commissioner to help reverse a lot of errors regarding our image and outreach. I'm passionate about this mission, and I could use your help in this. Almost all Carruthers items I've seen shown here are NOT Carruthers symbols. Tartan wise, a lot of what's often displayed seems to be the Noble House of Bruce pattern. While traditionally, we've been considered a Sept of the Bruce, as of 2019, the Lord Lyon ruled in favor of Dr. Simon Peter Carruthers of Holmains as Chief of his Name and Arms, our first living chief in over two hundred years. In 2017, our very first tartan was registered (Carruthers Red), though it is based on Bruce as an homage of appreciation and respect. As for the badge, our symbol is and has been a seraphim in flight for close to a thousand years, in various forms. NOT a cherub, and CERTAINLY NOT JUST WINGS WITH NO FACE. This matters very deeply to us, and the Chief has been very explicit on this. There exists a certain "Carruthers" LLC in America that has caused us endless trouble in this regard. This American independent... group... constantly plagiarize anything written directly from the real clan, augmenting it with inaccurate and unsubstantiated information that can only be called "head canon". They also apparently going around just "declaring chiefs". According to them, we have around 6. They, knowing full well they are in the wrong in this, tend to either lean on the cherub imagery, or more often this abomination of a crest here. While the number of wings for a seraphim (7) is accounted for...it's literally a headless set of wings. This is because, being aware of their own malfeasance as mentioned, they concocted this trash in order to add insulation from lawsuits and such. This is our best guess, anyway, why anyone would do this...jury is still out on why they'd do anything else they're doing. Please help us get this corrected, and the word spread. We've worked very hard to regain our status as a proper clan. Please lend us a hand in retaining our own heritage and identity. Who knows how many are just out there looking for their roots, and never connect with their own true kin as they want in their hearts, but instead a charlatan organization that is so strange, revisionist, and literally criminal that it has actually even effected our genealogical efforts. Thank you very much for your time.
Attached is an image of our proper traditional clan badge, as well as our proper tartan.
Promptus et fidelis.
