Celtic Zoomorphic Hounds Pewter Kilt Pin, Dogs
This beautiful raised relief high quality lead free pewter design is a familiar one from the "Book of Kells". The overall length is 3-7/8” (99mm) and is 1-5/16” (34mm) across the handle of the sword while the zoomorphic disk measures 1" (25mm)
This design features three running hounds interwoven in a Celtic "zoomorphic" pattern. Hounds were highly regarded by the Celtic people. In Celtic myth tales, hounds are emblematic of courage, extreme loyalty, and honor and were closely associated with healing.
