This Scottish penannular brooch is an amazingly beautiful and simple piece! This outstanding piece of Celtic art features the classic trinity or triquetra style knot; representing mind, body and spirit. The trinity knot has also been known to symbolize life, death, and rebirth.

This hand cast piece measures 1-1/4" (31mm) across the body of the penannular; while the pin is 1-3/4" (44mm) in length. It is handmade in our studio from the finest sterling silver. This brooch is offered in two styles; as a pin back brooch or as a true working penannular. Please select your style when ordering.

The very first brooches of this kind date back to the eighth century. In ancient times, brooches were merely used as fasteners to hold clothing together, the Celtic people used them to fasten their cloaks. The original brooches were used much like the modern day safety pin.

Own your piece of Celtic history with this lovely classic design, a truly stunning piece that is sure to draw both admiration and comments.

Very nice shawl pin, it is a bit small and would be good for a fine knit, but not for the bulky knit I wanted it for.
